I love Joseph and Emma Smith! I love their relationship,
their example of sacrifice, service and love. They are a wonderful example
of living the gospel in all areas of their lives. They didn’t just try to offer
service when they had the chance; they lived it every day, often giving up
their own bed for others in need. They constantly were faced with tragic events
and they bore them with such eloquence that if others didn’t see first hand
some of the things they were going through, we probably would not know about
them today. They didn’t complain or lose trust in God; sure asking how God
could let this happen time after time of them losing children, doesn’t count in
my book. They picked themselves back up again and kept moving forward. I have
such a sacred and deep respect for both of them and I love learning from their
examples. I only wish I could be half the woman Emma was. She just kept giving
even when she had to have been so emotionally drained. She deserves the title
that the Lord gave her in every way, An Elect Lady.
A couple of weeks ago I was thinking about Joseph and
Emma Smith and wondering how they met. I went online and tried to search for an
answer but couldn't find anything. I searched through a few web sites but still
nothing turned up. So I just kind of let it go and didn't think about it again.
My new Ensign (an inspirational magazine from The Church) came in the mail
today. I opened it up and flipped through all the stories. I stopped at a story
called, Joseph and Emma, Moments in Their Lives (click on the link to see the story and pictures) There were a small few
paragraphs and then a couple of pages of pictures. I finished flipping through
the magazine and came directly back to this article. I began reading, and to my
complete surprise and amazement, the entire page told specifically of how
Joseph and Emma met each other, and that was it. I was in shock. That was a
complete answer to something I had been thinking about! It wasn’t even like I had
been praying to find the answer.
I know that my Heavenly Father knows me, just
as He knows you! He is aware of us. He knows what will make us feel his love. He
loves us so much and wants us to be happy, even when we are going through hard
times. So if you ever wonder if He is up there listening to you even when you
aren’t officially praying…. He is! He is always listening to you and cares about
everything that has to do with you. : )
This is a beautiful video talking about the Letters between Emma and Joseph...and the cover pic is one of my favorites of the two of them. So tender.
