Do you ever wish that you could just bottle up a smell so that you can save it for a long time. There is a flower in Hawaii that is a type of Plumaria that is my favorite smell ever. Whenever I smell it, it makes me think of happy times in Hawaii and being among such great people, eating such great food, hearing the PCC night show at night, celebrating fun milestones, serving and enjoying life!
My good friend came over tonight. He brings such happiness and peace to my life. Every time I smell his cologne it reminds me of him and it calms me down, brings me joy and reminds me that I can get through hard things! He is a light in my life and I need his presence!
The power of smell amazes me! The other day I caught a brief smell of a cologne that brought me back like 20 years! It made me smile and yet just impressed me at how the sense of smell can make a memory come up like it was yesterday!
A couple of months ago my friend gave me a hug and the smell of his cologne was in my hair. I had to work on a paper that night and it was very stressful. I also had some things going on that were affecting me emotionally. Just stuff from relationships with people that I was trying to deal with. My paper was due the next day and I remember sitting at my computer and getting a whiff of the cologne every once in awhile and feeling immediate peace. It was such a blessing! And just what I needed to help get me though my paper.
So I just wish that smells could be captured like pictures and be bottled up and brought out whenever you need a little pick up, or moment of comfort, or to be reminded of a wonderful memory just like you were there! I know I could find cologne in the store, but it smells differently on different people, so that’s why that no work! And no synthetic plumeria, smells like the actual flower, so that’s why that no work either :) I’ve tried! Lol
